A man is in a critical condition in Wellington Hospital with a fractured skull, facial fractures, and lacerations to his head after a serious assault in Lower Hutt last night.
Hutt Valley Police are investigating the attack, which happened about 7.20pm on Randwick Rd, Moera.
The victim is in intensive care.
"A team of investigators are making enquiries and police are speaking to a 43-year-old male," Detective Senior Sergeant Glenn Barnett said.
"Police staff and the Environmental and Science Research are also continuing a scene examination at the address today."
