A man received serious burns in a house fire in Blenheim this afternoon.
Southern fire communications supervisor Daryl Ball said fire crews were called to the Howick Rd house at 2.20pm.
"It was going well on arrival, and on arrival they found that there was a person still in the house," he said.
The man was rescued by firefighters and taken to Wairau Hospital with serious burns.
Three fire trucks from Blenheim station and one from Renwick station attended the blaze, and a fire safety officer was still on the scene investigating the cause of the fire.
