A 42-year-old man was seriously assaulted in a central Auckland apartment after a disagreement with another man last night.
Police and ambulance services were called to the apartment building on Hobson St, near Cook St, shortly after 11pm.
Auckland police spokeswoman Noreen Hegarty said the assault took place inside the apartment, not out on the street.
"They were in the company of each other and then apparently there was some altercation."
The man who was assaulted was taken to Auckland City Hospital in a serious condition, but his condition improved as the night went on.
