A worker has a serious head injury and a broken leg after being hit by a digger bucket.
The accident happened in the Auckland suburb of Okahu Bay.
St Heliers fire station officer Rodney James said the digger was being unloaded from the back of a truck when the accident happened.
He said the worker was hit by the digger and has been taken to hospital.
The road has been cordoned off and the Department of Labour are investigating.
St Johns Ambulance team manager Glen Taylor said the digger bucket fell on the man's head from about 2 metres.
The man then fell about 1.5m and broke his leg.
Mr Taylor said the man has serious injuries including lacerations and fractures.
The man has been taken to Auckland Hospital in a serious condition.
