Man serious after hit-and-run on SH1

A man has serious head injuries after an apparent hit and run on State Highway One near Blenheim.

He was found by another driver just before midnight last night in Welds Pass. Police believe his Honda had run into a barrier a few kilometres back, but he carried on heading north until eventually pulling over. He was getting out of his car when another car hit him. Police are now trying to find a maroon car with damage on its left side, and a broken left headlight.

It was last seen heading north towards Blenheim at high speed.
