Man saws off hand while cutting firewood

A man cut off his hand while sawing firewood yesterday.

Waikato Hospital was today refusing to say whether doctors had managed to reattach the Te Puke man's hand.

The hospital today described the man as comfortable after he underwent surgery overnight.

The man cut off his hand while sawing firewood at Papamoa yesterday morning.

The hand was put in a chilly bin and the man driven to Tauranga Hospital, before being flown to Waikato Hospital.
