Firefighters are trying to save a home from burning to the ground in North Dunedin this afternoon.
One man has been rescued from the house and was being treated by paramedics.
Witnesses described a loud explosion rattling the property on North Rd before it caught alight.
Police have blocked roads in both directions and are trying to control a crowd of about 100 onlookers.
