KEY POINTS:
A tramper was seriously injured today after falling 50 metres down Mt Ngauruhoe in the central North Island.
The tramper was rescued at 10am after falling down the northern slope of the mountain, said a spokesman from the Taupo-based Youthtown Trust Rescue Helicopter.
The man was hit by falling rocks and had head, neck and shoulder injuries.
He was flown to Waikato Hospital.
