A Christchurch man buried 2m by an avalanche in the Queenstown region was flown to hospital suffering from hypothermia, police said.
The man was in a group of heli-skiers when an avalanche roared down about 4pm on Temple Peak, near Glenorchy.
Sergeant Brian Cameron said it was "some minutes" before the man in his 30s was dug out by other members of the party.
