A man allegedly armed with a shotgun who went on the run following a domestic dispute in Waikato has turned himself in.
Hone Neal, 23, was sought following an incident on Friday when he allegedly assaulted his wheelchair-bound partner in Huntly, 33km north of Hamilton. He was later reportedly seen with a shotgun.
Neal was on the run for five days but Senior Sergeant Pete Simpson said he walked into Huntly Police Station yesterday and turned himself in.
"We had been making inquiries with the family and they talked him into giving himself up," Mr Simpson told NZPA.
He said Neal was charged with male assaults female, possession of a firearm and assault with intent to injure and appeared in Hamilton District Court yesterday.
