Man remanded over firearms and explosives charges

A man charged with possession of firearms and explosives after a police raid in the Hutt Valley was remanded in custody when he appeared in the Lower Hutt District Court yesterday.

Nevara Raheke, 36, was charged with possessing 15 sticks of powergel explosives, a 12-gauge pump action shotgun, a bolt-action rifle and a Smith & Wesson revolver.

He was remanded in custody until Tuesday.
