KEY POINTS:
A man accused of drugs and weapons offences was remanded in custody when he appeared in Tauranga District Court today.
Dean Wickliffe, 59, entered no pleas to charges of possessing cocaine for supply, unlawfully possessing a pistol (a .45 colt revolver), unlawfully possessing an explosive (.45 calibre ammunition) and possessing cannabis plant.
Wickliffe was arrested on Saturday at the seaside settlement of Maketu, east of Te Puke, where he lives.
No details were given in court and his occupation was not revealed.
Defence lawyer Rachael Adams sought a remand until March 17 in custody, by consent, so that she could take further instructions.
The request was granted by Judge Thomas Ingram.
