A man charged over the stabbing of a woman in Wanganui on Saturday night was remanded in custody when he appeared in court this morning.
The 40-year-old factory hand entered no plea to a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, Radio NZ reported.
He will reappear in Wanganui District Court in two weeks.
The 43-year-old victim remains in Wanganui Hospital.
She was stabbed outside the offices of Wanganui Taxis on Russell St where she works as a taxi driver, about 10pm on Saturday night.
She had finished her break and gone to the back of the property when she was confronted by her attacker, the Wanganui Chronicle reported.
During the assault, she was stabbed repeatedly in the neck and shoulder area.
Police are yet to release her name.
The attacker was believed to be known to the woman.
