KEY POINTS:
A 27-year-old man has been remanded in custody after he was caught following a high-speed car chase on Auckland's North Shore yesterday.
Billy Matara was wanted on warrant for aggravated robbery and other serious offences.
North Shore police began pursuing him about 2pm yesterday, bringing in the police Eagle helicopter, police dogs and several North Shore police patrols.
A police vehicle was one of several damaged during the incident.
The helicopter tracked Matara after he abandoned his Nissan Skyline in Onewa Road and ran through several nearby properties on foot, before being tackled and arrested by a member of the North Shore CIB.
At the North Shore District Court today Matara faced eight charges, including aggravated robbery, reckless driving and failing to stop and ascertain injury after a crash.
He was remanded in custody until August 13.
