A man has been remanded in custody after a fire ripped through a Christchurch church yesterday.
The 35-year-old, who was today granted interim name suppression at Christchurch District Court, is facing three charges, including two charges of entering St Margaret's Presbyterian in Bishopdale, without authority, with intent to commit an imprisonable offence.
He also faces one charge of intentionally damaging the church by fire.
The blaze broke out at 5.45am yesterday, causing significant damage to its chapel and a store room.
The man will reappear in court on May 30.
