Police are questioning a man in connection with a ramraid in Taranaki early this morning.
Inspector Chris Tait from central police communications said a Caltex petrol station in Bell Block, seven kilometres north east of New Plymouth, was rammed with a white van about 1.35am .
Two men took the shop's till and some stock before fleeing.
However, the escape was short-lived as the pair crashed the van two hours later on State Highway 3, south of Te Kuiti .
Inspector Ian Brooker of northern police communications said one of the men was knocked unconscious and had been flown to Waikato Hospital, while the other sustained an ankle injury.
Mr Brooker said the van the men were travelling in was a stolen vehicle and had altered number plates.
Hamilton police sergeant Jeff Blow said police were in the process of speaking to the man who had injured his leg.
Mr Blow was unaware of the other man's condition, but said he was still in hospital.
