Napier police have determined a man was deliberately pushed in front of a taxi after being assaulted by a teenager.
The 34-year-old was bashed on the footpath before being pushed into the path of an oncoming van last weekend.
Detective Emmet Lynch says two key witnesses have led police to believe the man was purposely pushed in front of the vehicle by one of the three men seen with him. Mr Lynch says the behaviour of the teenager was a callous, cowardly premeditated act. He says the community needs to identify him to ensure public safety.
