A man accused of the 1979 murder of Rodney Tahu has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Menzies Reginald John Hallett appeared in the High Court at Rotorua this morning and entered a plea of not guilty through his lawyer, Paul Mabey, QC.
Justice Geoffrey Venning remanded Hallett on bail to appear at a callover on May 31.
Mr Tahu, a service station attendant, was found by a passing truck driver lying in a pool of blood on the forecourt of the Shell service station in Turangi where he worked. He died at Taumarunui Hospital from gunshot wounds.
