A man charged with murdering paedophile Glen Donald Stinson appeared in Palmerston North District Court today.
Aubrey Thomas Harrison, 27, a concrete worker from Highbury, pleaded not guilty to the murder. He made no application for name suppression or bail.
He was remanded in custody to reappear on August 21.
A 31-year-old woman had also been charged with assault with intent to injure and the kidnapping of Stinson in the court on Wednesday. She was in police custody .
Her name suppression had been extended until her High Court appeal, taking place sometime next week.
Stinson's body was found by workers arriving at a poultry farm in Wylie Road, near Foxton, early on Saturday morning.
A post-mortem examination showed he died from severe injuries to his head and face.
At the time of his death, Stinson, 57, was on bail facing three charges of indecent assault and one of attempted rape on a girl under the age of 12.
His life of crime began in 1967, when, as a 17-year-old, he was convicted of indecent assault.
He was convicted five more times between 1974 and 1984, for the same offence, all on girls under the age of 16.
Inspector Mark Harrison said police were trying to trace the movements of a brown Holden Vectra car with the registration number XA6691. The car, belonging to the murder-accused, was found in Waikato.
Police were also appealing for sightings of any other vehicles in the Wylie Road area on Friday night and Saturday morning.
