A man accused of impersonating a police officer by using a siren and flashing light to stop a speeding car pleaded not guilty in Porirua District Court today.
Mason Makatea Durie, 70, told the court another driver had stopped the car, which had been driving erratically, before he pulled over.
He said the light police found in his car when they searched it recently was not there at the time of the alleged offence.
The matter was adjourned to Hamilton District Court on November 28 when a date for a defended hearing would be set.
Durie is not the Massey University professor Mason Durie.
