KEY POINTS:
A young Taranaki man who killed his friend when he crashed his high-powered van into a parked truck has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
Luke Robert Edgcombe, 18, from Inglewood was found to be four times over the drink-driving limit for his age, the Taranaki Daily News reported today.
Edgcombe was released on bail until his sentencing in the High Court in New Plymouth, on a date yet to be decided, for the manslaughter of 17-year-old Devon Ray Gopperth and dangerous driving causing injury to Tony Basil Suter, 22 -- both passengers in the van.
The crash report said the van was travelling between 80km/h and 90km/h, skidded for 36.5m before slamming into the parked truck and trailer unit on Rewa St.
