North Shore police used a Taser for the first time yesterday after a man, suspected of being high on P, threatened officers at a Northcote property about 1.30pm.
Area commander Inspector Les Paterson said police followed the man after he and a woman fled from a burglary.
Mr Paterson said the man was in a garage surrounded by officers when he threatened them with a jemmy bar and threw shards of glass at them.
