Man 'lucky to be alive' after crash

A man trapped upside down in his car for more than 30 minutes after a car crash in Masterton is lucky to be alive, police say.

The man called for help about 3am today but was unable to say where the crash had happened.

Police searched for 30 minutes, eventually finding him on Paierau Road.

The man, who had two broken legs, was taken to hospital.

Police were investigating the crash.
