A Wanganui man lost several fingers in a cutting machine accident early today.
The Palmerston North-based Square Trust rescue helicopter was called to Wanganui about 1am today.
A 17 year old man had lost a number of fingers as a result of a cutting machine accident, a spokesman for the rescue helicopter said.
The man was initially treated by St John ambulance staff and the Wanganui Hospital emergency department.
The man and his fingers were flown to Wellington by helicopter then transported by ambulance to the Hutt Hospital for treatment.
