Police are calling for witnesses to an early morning assault after a man was found lying on a Queenstown street corner with facial cuts.
The 25-year-old Timaru man was found by a police patrol near the intersection of Shotover and Brecon streets at about 3.45am, acting sergeant Blair Duffy, of Queenstown police said.
He was taken to Lakes District Hospital where he was treated for a cut lip and a broken toe.
No witnesses have come forward and there was no CCTV footage of the assault, believed to have taken place between 2am and 3.45am.
Police were yet to speak to the man, who was believed to have been drunk.
"It doesn't sound like the victim's recollection is going to add up to much," Mr Duffy said.
Police were asking for any witnesses to come forward with information.
