A man who gave false details to police unwittingly led police to his brother's house where his sibling was allegedly growing cannabis.
Waikato police said they approached the man yesterday after claims he had been selling cannabis at a Hamilton shopping centre.
When questioned he gave false details to police, which last night led them to his brother's house in Chartwell where the man had claimed he lived.
Officers became suspicious when they found one man smoking cannabis and another man who attempted to flee when they arrived.
A search revealed four mature cannabis plants and about 150 seedlings growing in the garage, police said.
The two men at the property were arrested.
The "rather sheepish" man who had first been questioned over the shopping centre allegations handed himself into police this morning.
Police said he had been in breach of his bail conditions.
