Man killed trimming hedge in rural Hawke's Bay

Police and the Labour Department are investigating a farming accident in which a Hawke's Bay man was killed this morning.

Derek Joseph Bibby, 55, fell from a front-end loader bucket while trimming a hedge on his Onga Onga farm.

Onga Onga Fire Brigade, ambulance and rescue helicopter attended the accident.

Waipukurau police said this afternoon Mr Bibby died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
