KEY POINTS:
A man was hit and killed by a train south of the Otahuhu station in South Auckland yesterday.
Ontrack spokesman Kevin Ramshaw said it was in an area where people did not normally go.
"It's not a place where there is any formed crossing point; we regard it as a trespass incident."
Constable Peter Ott of Otahuhu police said the man was aged about 25 and was a local resident.
