A 46-year-old Napier man who died early yesterday morning when he lost control of his vehicle on a rural Hawke's Bay road has been named.
He was forestry worker Darren Malcolm Thomas.
He lost control of his Ford Courier 4x4 and rolled on Ohurakura Rd, about 50km northwest of Napier, about 12.20am Sunday morning, Sergeant Geoff Strother said.
He was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from his car after it rolled several times.
Alcohol and speed may have been factors in the crash, Mr Strother said.
No one else was in the car.
Mr Thomas was the sole fatality on the roads at the weekend.
