An elderly Dunedin man who died after being hit by a car last night has been named by police.He was 86-year-old Albert Arthur Wolf, known as Bert, of Fairfield.
A St John spokeswoman said an ambulance was called about 7pm after a report of a car hitting a pedestrian on the corner of Flower St and Main South Rd in suburban Fairfield.
The ambulance travelled to Dunedin Hospital with its sirens and lights on, as the man's condition deteriorated from serious to critical, she said.Senior Sergeant Brian Benn, of Dunedin, said the man died at Dunedin Hospital last night.
The driver of the vehicle was an 88-year-old Mosgiel man, who was not injured.Police said investigations into the matter were continuing
