KEY POINTS:
A man was killed near Rotorua this morning following a head on collision between two 4WD vehicles.
Acting Senior Sergeant Denton Grimes said the crash happened on State Highway 5 about 5km south of the city at 6am.
The driver of the vehicle travelling north was killed and his passenger injured, along with the driver of the southbound vehicle.
Mr Grimes said police were still investigating the crash and that it was too early to say whether speed or alcohol were involved.
