A man who died after a car collided with an Intercity bus in Taranaki yesterday has been named by police.
Te Kuiti man George Crombie, 60, was the driver and sole occupant of the car when it crashed on State Highway 3 at Awakino about 12.30pm yesterday.
He died at the scene.
Police said a scene examination had been completed and the crash investigation was ongoing.
Police yesterday said the Intercity bus with 21 people on it was travelling southbound, and the car was travelling northbound, when the crash occurred near the southern end of the Awakino Gorge, north of New Plymouth.
