A man killed when he was trapped under a heavy vehicle at a Bay of Plenty quarry today was a 24-year-old from Tauranga, police say.
The man's name would not be released by police until next of kin had been notified.
Police said the man became trapped after a 45 tonne rock cutter tipped in the Oropi Quarry on McPhail Rd, near Tauranga, about 12.15pm.
Emergency services were called, but he died at the scene.
The Fire Service earlier today worked to right the vehicle and remove the man from underneath.
