A man killed when his 4WD vehicle rolled on him at his Taranaki property at the weekend has been named.
He was Robert (Bob) John Julian, 35, from Normanby, 7km north of Hawera, the Taranaki Daily News reported.
Sergeant Kim Severinsen, of Hawera police, said the man had been driving on his flat section about 2pm on Saturday.
"Investigations into the cause of the accident are continuing but it appears the vehicle's tyres have dug into the soft ground, causing it to roll over," Mr Severinsen said.
The man, who was not buckled in, fell out and was pinned beneath the vehicle.
He was the only person in the vehicle.
His death, which will not count towards the road toll as it happened on private property, has been referred to the coroner.
