KEY POINTS:
A man is dead after he was hit by a train in Christchurch.
Inspector Warren Kemp said the man was on the tracks west of the Curletts Road rail overbridge at 6pm yesterday when he was struck by a train.
Police now want help to identify him as he was carrying no form of identification.
He was 185cm tall, Caucasian, slim, in his early twenties to mid thirties with brown hair in a short back and sides style.
He was wearing an Adidas hooded sweat top with three orange hoops on one arm, black track pants with a grey stripe containing the CCC logo down both legs. He was also wearing a black "Dry Gear" brand short-sleeved top. His white and grey Asics running shoes were US size 15.
The man had a white Iriver MP3 player in his possession.
