A man killed in a car crash after a high-speed police chase in Waipukurau at the weekend was banned from driving 16 days earlier.
Ford Hemi Forsman, a 19-year-old wool presser from Masterton, died when the stolen car he was driving smashed into a tree after failing to take a bend in the road.
Police said the incident happened after a police patrol tried to stop the vehicle because of a dangerous driving incident in the town.
In Masterton District Court on October 12, Forsman was disqualified from driving for a year after admitting charges that included dangerous and drunk driving.
