Man jailed over carer payments

An Auckland man has been sentenced to six months' jail and his partner given community detention for dishonestly claiming nearly $26,000 in carer support payments for their disabled child.

Marcus Rhind and Hayley Dawson were yesterday sentenced in Waitakere District Court on charges of dishonestly using a document after they wrongly claimed $25,726 in carer payments from the Ministry of Health between October 2003 and January this year.
