A man who threw a wheel-rim into a party crowd injuring a policewoman has been sentenced to three years jail in the High Court in Hamilton.
Twenty-eight year-old Stacey Pakaru was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with reckless disregard for the safety of others.
He threw a wheel-rim into a crowd at an out-of-control 21st party in Tauranga early this year, hitting Constable Deborah Jay in the head.
She suffered serious injuries, including a fractured skull, broken nose, broken collarbone and two broken teeth.
Pakaru will be eligible for parole next year.
