A man who repeatedly raped a 10-year-old girl in the early 1990s, and raped a six-year-old girl in 2000 has been jailed for eight years.
Tangimetua Ngarima was sentenced in the High Court in Wellington yesterday after earlier pleading guilty to two charges representing offences of rape and sexual abuse from April 1992 to April 1993, as well as the rape in 2000, The Dominion Post reported.
It was the second time Ngarima had been jailed for child-sex crimes.
In 1989, under the name Terry Tomokino, he was jailed for three years and nine months for attempted unlawful sexual intercourse and indecent assault on a seven-year-old girl who he infected with a sexually transmitted disease.
Sentencing him, Justice Alan MacKenzie ordered Ngarima to serve at least half the eight-year term before he could be considered for parole.
