Nearly a decade of viewing child pornography on his computer resulted in a Christchurch sickness beneficiary being jailed for 10 months today.
Marc McKee, 35, was sentenced in Christchurch District Court after pleading guilty to nine charges of possessing objectionable images, the Christchurch Court News website reported.
His computer was found with about 19,000 image files but only about 1150 had been listed as objectionable because of their titles.
Judge Emma Smith reduced his sentence because of his intellectual difficulties but said that home detention was not appropriate.
She ordered that he undertake psychological assessment and treatment as directed, and ordered forfeiture and destruction of the computer
