An Eastern Bay of Plenty man who admitted assaulting his partner on four separate occasions and who attempted to pervert the course of justice has been sentenced to 15 months' jail.
Robert Haami Boynton, 39, of Matahi Valley, appeared in the High Court at Rotorua this morning after previously pleading guilty to four charges of assaulting his partner and mother of two of his children, Ngarangi Wickliffe. He was also found guilty of a charge of wilfully attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Justice Ailsa Duffy sentenced Boynton to nine months' jail on the charges of assaulting Miss Wickliffe and six months' jail for attempting to pervert the course of justice. The sentences were to be served cumulatively.
