A man who breached Christchurch's red zone has been sent to prison.
Toko Winter, 22, was sentenced in Wanganui District Court last week to 10 months in prison for a burglary and for going into the red zone.
The court was told that on March 19, Winter had gone with an associate to the central city home of an elderly woman and asked to have a drink and to use her toilet.
The 79-year-old woman let the two young men in, where Winter distracted her as the other man went upstairs and helped himself to the woman's belongings.
In a separate incident, Winter had gone into the red zone in Christchurch on July 7. He was on bail and was "very, very drunk", the court was told.
