KEY POINTS:
A man has been flown to Wellington Hospital with severe facial injuries after a chainsaw accident this morning.
The 35-year-old Waikanae man was cutting firewood about 8.30am when the chainsaw "kicked back", hitting him in the face, said Dave Greenberg of Life Flight.
Paramedics stabilised the man before he was flown to hospital by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
