A man has been taken to hospital after a hammer dropped from more than 3m onto his head.
Rescue services were called out to Surfdale on Waiheke Island at 3.45pm yesterday where the man, aged in his 40s, had been injured.
It's understood the hammer had been left on the top of the ladder but was knocked loose.
An Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust spokesperson said the man was presumed to have been walking past the ladder when the hammer fell.
"What I gather from the report form is that he maybe was walking and the hammer had been on the top rung [of a ladder] and had fallen 12 feet onto his head."
