A man suffered serious head injuries after falling about 3.5 metres into a West Auckland creek yesterday, in what witnesses say was a synthetic cannabis-related incident.
The 26-year-old was with one of two groups of youths involved in some kind of disagreement moments before his fall, a neighbour told the Herald.
Delmon Katipa, 41, said he approached two groups of youths having an altercation near the edge of a drop into Huruhuru Creek on Woodside Rd, Massey, shortly before the incident.
Three of the men accused the others of smoking synthetic cannabis, complaining of the smell. Katipa backs up the assertion.
