A man who was critically injured when his motorbike struck a sheep on a road near Hastings over the weekend is now in a stable condition.
The 35-year-old suffered neck and spinal injuries in the crash on Middle Rd at Poukawa about 5.30pm on Saturday.
A Lowe Corporation rescue helicopter spokeswoman said the man's motorbike struck a sheep that had escaped onto the road.
The man was airlifted to Hawkes Bay Regional Hospital.
A hospital spokeswoman said today the man was in a serious but stable condition in intensive care.
