A man who stripped naked at a Christchurch laundrette has been remanded for pre-sentence reports.
Kenneth Hunter Georgeson, 45, unemployed, stripped in front of several adults and two young children in a central Christchurch laundrette last month.
He took off all his clothes and placed them in a washing machine and then got other clothes out of his backpack and put them on.
When the police arrived he was drinking a bottle of beer.
The police summary of facts presented in Christchurch District Court yesterday stated that Georgeson said he had to wash his clothes because they stank.
The police arrested him for obscene exposure, drinking the beer in breach of Christchurch's central city liquor ban, and for disorderly behaviour and wilful damage at a medical centre a month before.
He pleaded guilty to all four charges and also admitted a further charge of stealing an $80 jacket.
Judge Michael Lance remanded Georgeson on bail for pre-sentence reports until August 25.
