A man was flown to hospital yesterday after an accident with a log splitter.
The 45-year-old was cutting wood when he amputated his finger at a farm in the Ashley Clinton area, west of Waipukurau.
He was transported about 4pm to Hawkes Bay Regional Hospital for further treatment by the Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter.
The helicopter also transported a 20-year-old man to Hawkes Bay Regional Hospital after he was thrown from a car when it crashed through a fence into a paddock about 9.45pm.
The man received back and head injuries.
