A man was hospitalised after being rescued from a house fire in Whanganui.
Police and firefighters got to the scene on Carlton Ave about 12.36am.
A man was taken to hospital in a serious condition after being removed from the house by firefighters.
There is not believed to have been any other people in the house at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is not yet known but police and fire investigators are to continue their enquiries today.
