KEY POINTS:
A 47-year-old man has been remanded in custody after he appeared in court following an Armourguard robbery in Blenheim last month in which $100,000 was taken.
The burglary happened about 2.30am on January 14 when a burglar broke into Armourguard's Opawa Street office by cutting a hole in a wall in an area obscured from public view by shrubs and a large rock.
An unemployed man appeared in Blenheim District Court yesterday charged with the break in.
He was granted interim name suppression and was remanded in custody to reappear on February 23.
The man's arrest followed last week's recovery of a large amount of the stolen cash from a location on the outskirts of Blenheim.
Detective Sergeant Hamilton said he was pleased with the arrest after what he said had been a lengthy and difficult inquiry.
No one else was being sought in connection with the burglary.
